Born in Zanesville, Ohio, Zane Grey became interested in stories of expansions in life. He became a dentist, but the dream of writing eventually pulled him away from dentistry. He began a novel based on an ancestor and launched a career as a writer. Grey wrote more than 90 novels, two-thirds were westerns. He also was a famous fisherman and outdoorsman and wrote for a number of sporting magazines. More than 100 movies have been made from his writings.
